HL7

Health Level Seven (HL7), an ANSI-accredited standards development organization, is creating standards for representing and communicating data related to health care. HL7 has focused on the clinical and administrative data generated within and across health care institutions. Version 3.0 is being developed through the use of a formalized methodology involving the creation of a Reference Information Model (RIM) to encompass not only the ability to move data but to use data once it is moved.
