The mission of the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel is to serve as a cooperative partnership between the public and private sectors to achieve a widely accepted set of standards to enable widespread interoperability among healthcare software applications, as they will interact in local and regional health information exchanges and in the Nationwide Health Information Network for the United States.
Funded by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), HITSP is facilitated by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in cooperation with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
PHDSC strongly supports HITSP. PHDSC leadership participates in the HITSP Board and HITSP Technical Committees.
