Electronic Health Record - Public Health Task Force

Evaluation of HL7 EHR-S Functional Model from Public Health Perspectives - Phase 2

Overview | Phase 1 | Phase 2 | Phase 3 | Phase 4

The Consortium, in collaboration with Health Level 7 (HL7) International, has re-launched the Ad Hoc Task Force on Electronic Health Record-Public Health (EHR-PH). The Task Force participants have been developing the Public Health Functional Profile based on the review the ISO-approved HL7 Electronic Health Record System (EHR-S) Functional Model Release 1.1. Participants will re-evaluate the Model to assure that public health perspectives from federal, state and local agencies and the public health research community are met.

The Consortium works with representatives from local, state and federal public health agencies, healthcare organizations, public health professional associations, schools of public health, health Information Technology (IT) vendor organizations, private sector organizations and individuals interested in public health to join the PHDSC Task Force in the re-evaluation of the Model.

The original HL7 EHR-S Functional Model was validated by the PHDSC Ad Hoc Task Force on EHR-PH in 2003-2004.

The support for these activities is provided through the Cooperative Agreement to the PHDSC from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
