While the Consortium is not an American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited standard development organization, we supplement the activities of these organizations.

We support the full array of health information technology standards development and adoption in public health including the standardization of electronic exchanges of clinical, population health, environmental, socio-cultural and economic information relevant to population health including the following:

Promotion of the electronic connectivity between public health and clinical care via Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems:

Representation of the public health community at the standards development and harmonization organizations

Promotion of the electronic standardized collection and management of data within public health agency  programs and data integration across programs:

Representation of the public health community on issues of privacy, confidentiality and information security:
